We’re doomed. With congressional committee leadership positions now under control of the Republican Party, Rep. John Shimkus (R-Ill.) is vying for the top spot on the Energy and Commerce Committee, which oversees regulation related to climate change. Why could this spell doom for us?
Because Shimkus believes that God promised Noah after the flood that he will never cause another flood again. Therefore climate change can’t happen. Because God said so.
With a new cadre of climate-change deniers joining Congress, expect to see more of these church revivals passing for what should be rational scientific discourse at congressional hearings.
