Those darn Jews and their funny words. On CNN Sunday night, Trump surrogate Scottie Neil Hughes accidentally confused the word “Molotov,” the ironic namesake of a small, homemade bomb, with “mazel tov,” a Hebrew term used to wish someone congratulations.

Naturally, “mazel tov cocktail” went viral. So, in order to honor Hughes’ malapropism, RD consulted with a pair of Seattle bartenders to produce this original cocktail recipe (such a cocktail in fact already existed, but ours is designed especially with the Trump campaign in mind). You can make it for your election night viewing party, feature it at your next Jewish event, or sip it alone while contemplating the ambient anti-Semitism that has surrounded the Trump campaign.

L’chaim!

Mazel Tov Cocktail

1 sugar cube or 1 tsp 2:1 simple syrup
2 dashes Bittermens Hellfire Habanero Shrub
1 orange wedge
1 brandied Rainier cherry (pitted)
2 oz Slivovitz

This fiery take on the old-fashioned Old Fashioned is eager to grab control of global markets and pull the strings of vulnerable governments everywhere.

Put the sugar, Hellfire bitters, orange and cherry into a whiskey glass and, while inhaling loudly through your nose and pursing your lips, muddle it to a pulp. Stir in the Slivovitz, add ice and, as you serve, lean in closely and mutter “wrong” or “liar.” It’s sure to be a hit with family and friends.
