Why Bother Reading the Bible?

Remember that discussion about whether the miniseries The Bible would correct or contribute to biblical illiteracy? Now the producers of the miniseries, Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, have penned a novelization of the miniseries that has rocketed to the top of bestseller charts. According to the publisher, Hachette Book Group, “A STORY OF GOD AND ALL OF US brings the Bible’s greatest stories and most compelling characters to life. Readers will revel in this epic saga of warriors, rebels, poets and kings, all called upon by God to reveal his enduring love for mankind.”

The producers were worried about biblical illiteracy and wanted to “glorify God.” So now instead of reading the actual Bible, you can just read a novelization of a miniseries.
