Ever since the radical right launched its offensive against the lives of gay and lesbian people, their meme has always been that gay and lesbian people are inherently unable to form long lasting relationships. Instead, gays and lesbians are hard wired for promiscuity and fleeting relationships based solely upon lust and sex.
The fight for marriage equality for same-sex couples has put the final nail in that meme’s coffin as couples who have been together for decades lined up to get hitched. Despite the death of their favorite talking point, anti-gay factions continue to oppose gay and lesbian relationships—even if they are based on real love and commitment.
Witness the latest conniption going on over at OneNewsNow.com now that a New Jersey court has ordered the online dating service eHarmony.com – for years a service provided only to those seeking opposite sex partners—to now begin offering their service to same-sex love seekers.
Peter LaBarbera is president of Americans for Truth about Homosexuality and says Christians need to respond.
“Tell them that this is a terrible decision, and we hope this is going to hurt their bottom line,” he notes. “Again, this is a time of testing for Christians, and you’ve got to stand and defend truth. American freedom will die if we let it be driven down to nothing by the courts.”
So, anti-gay forces first complain that we can’t keep our relationships together, then they complain that we shouldn’t be allowed to enter a “’til death do us part” marriage – now, we can’t even be allowed to look for a potential mate using one of the most popular online dating services out there.
Wow, it’s almost as if they don’t want us to exist at all.
