From a recent Wall Street Journal piece:
In old-money enclaves like Palm Beach, Fla., Nantucket, Mass., and Greenwich, Conn., WASPs are being priced out of their waterfront estates and displaced on their nonprofit boards by Jewish, Catholic and other non-Protestant entrepreneurs.
Strange indeed, though I will say that WASP privilege has always been unevenly distributed. Palm Beach is not at all the same as rural Wisconsin, where I live. And contra Jamie Johnson, it’s not laziness that has destroyed the Protestant upper class, but declining birthrates. But but but the Supreme Court must have a Protestant on it! Just one more reason to think identity politics are alive and well.
