About RD

Religion Dispatches is an award-winning, independent, non-profit source
for expert analysis at the intersection of religion, politics, and culture.

OUR MISSION

Religion Dispatches offers new ways to think about how religion works in (and on) American culture and politics.
We invite an open discussion of religious ideas, communities, and practices, rooted in leftist thought and an unwavering commitment to justice. Our writers confront and counter narratives of religious authoritarianism and those who enable it.

Religion Dispatches is not a religious publication: we are a publication about religion, written for anyone who wants to better understand how religion shapes our lives and our politics. The perspectives offered by RD are crucial to restoring compassion, critical thinking, and understanding within mainstream discourse about religion in what’s now the United States.
