My last post, on God taking the side of the poor, drew a lot of attention, both in the comments and elsewhere. To tell you the truth, I love that it has made so many people so nervous. It means they’re taking the idea seriously. And let’s face it: the idea that God would pick sides is scandalous. It upsets the natural human desire for God to play fair, to be there for all people, and for those people to carry themselves with a little bit of humility. It was scandalous back in the day, and it’s scandalous now.
I was going to mount an impassioned response against various critics, but it seems to me that this is all the defense my post needs.
