Catherine Wessinger is Professor of the History of Religions, and the Rev. H. James Yamauchi, S.J., Professor of Arts and Sciences, at Loyola University New Orleans. She is the author of How the Millennium Comes Violently: From Jonestown to Heavenâ??s Gate (2000), editor of Millennialism, Persecution, and Violence: Historical Cases (2000), and editor of Memories of the Branch Davidians: The Autobiography of David Koreshâ??s Mother by Bonnie Haldeman (2007). She is co-general editor of Nova Religio: The Journal of Alternative and Emergent Religions.
