Alda Balthrop-Lewis is a PhD candidate in Religion at Princeton University. She holds an MDiv from the University of Chicago Divinity School, has worked for the Peabody-Award-winning radio program, On Being, and is currently completing a dissertation, Thoreau’s Political Asceticism: Environmental Justice from Abolitionism to the Anthropocene.
