WE WRITE ABOUT HOW PEOPLE DO RELIGION, NOT HOW THEY OUGHT TO DO RELIGION
RD is not a religious publication! This means RD does not publish articles that present particular positions on any religious tradition as the “real” or “true” or “best” way/s to teach, practice, or understand that religion. And we do not publish theological or confessional pieces.
PITCHING
For general pitches: send your pitch or submission, either pasted in the body of the email or as an attachment (or both), to submissions@religiondispatches.org.
If you are a writer of color, a queer writer, and/or a disabled writer who’d like to contribute to RD: email goodwin@religiondispatches.org.
For a story tied directly to the news cycle or an impending event, please mark your submission URGENT in the subject line of the email. We’ll make every effort to respond within 12 hours on weekdays. (Weekends may take longer.)
WRITING
Feature stories typically run between 750 and 1500 words, with some exceptions at either end.
Be sure to include an author bio 2-3 sentences long with your submission. Feel free to include links to other work you’d like to promote!
