Thomas Nelson Addresses Driscoll Plagiarism Allegations

Following allegations that Mark Driscoll plagiarized repeatedly from Dan Allender’s book Wounded Heart (Nav Press, 2008), NavPress issued this response via email, “We have chosen to respond to Mark Driscoll and Mars Hill Church directly and will keep the conversation private among both parties.”

Apparently, this conversation resulted in a corrective issued without any fanfare by Thomas Nelson. As reported by Warren Throckmorton at Patheos, the Kindle edition of Mark and Grace Driscoll’s #1 New York Times best-selling book Real Marriage adds Allender’s name and book title to the Acknowledgments section.

Other allegations of plagiarism contained within the book remain unaddressed. Throckmorton continued his reporting of Driscoll’s plagiarism by citing multiple instances where the author quoted from Justin and Lindsey Holcomb’s book Rid of my Disgrace (Re:Lit series, published by Crossway, 2011) in Real Marriage.

However, as of this date, Thomas Nelson has yet to respond publicly to the numerous allegations of plagiarism in that book, as well as Mark Driscoll’s other book Who Do You Think You Are?, also published by Thomas Nelson.

Looks Thomas Nelson’s silence might be golden as they appear to be doing all they can to preserve this Christian cash cow.
