Following on the heels of their “Restoring Honor Rally” that mimicked Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream Speech,” Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin boldly go where no right-wing performance artist has gone before—9/11: The Final Frontier, a sacred day that turned a dying Dubya into the Burning Bush. Palin promoted Glenn’s trek to the Last Frontier on her Facebook page: “We can count on Glenn to make the night interesting and inspiring, and I can think of no better way to commemorate 9/11 than to gather with patriots who will “never forget.”
Unlike the “Restoring Rally” where Beck & Palin appeared gratis, Tea Partiers who want to catch Beck & Palin on September 11 at Anchorage’s Dena’iana Center will have to fork over anywhere from $73 for a basic ticket to $255 for a special meet-and-greet. Since these Fox favorites failed to designate how these funds will be spent, here’s a selection of potential charities taken from Charity Navigator’s “Listing of 10 Non-Profits That Make Ebenezer Proud”:
* American Association of State Troopers, Association for Disabled Firefighters
* California Organization of Police and Sheriffs
* Cancer Fund of America Support Services & Children’s Cancer Fund of America * Foundation for American Veterans * Gateway to a Cure
* Noah’s Wish
* Ohio Troopers Coalition
* Road to Responsibility Inc.
* United States Public Policy Council
Another option would be for the duo to to team up with fellow performance artists Joel and Victoria Osteen and support Feed the Children, Osteen’s Charity of choice that received a grade of F from the American Institute of Philanthropy.
While Beck & Palin will rake in the cash promoting their brand of patriotism, President Obama will be appearing at the Pentagon Memorial in Arlington on Sept. 11, where he will deliver remarks and take part in a wreath-laying ceremony. Michelle Obama and Laura Bush plan to honor victims of the attacks in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, while Vice President Joe Biden will attend services Saturday at Ground Zero.
